Let’s get to the bottom of this, people. But first, let me present what this text is based on. I mentioned recently that I had worked, for a long time, in warehousing. This is something that I deliberately did not talk that much about before. As you know, I’ve chosen to keep my private life apart from this blog. Today, I’m going to make an exception.
So, simply what I want to talk about today is warehousing. What is there to know about this? Here we go:
What is warehousing?
I guess that the word could mean a lot of different things. In this context, it meant that we, our company, stored stuff for other companies. You know, companies that need the space to store their products. At least, that was what it was mostly about. We also offered a lot of services in addition to the warehousing. For instance, picking and packing services, deliveries and other related services. World-wide, I should say!
For many companies, maybe even most, this is a so-called no-brainer. I mean, think about it. Imagine being a pretty small company that sells stuff, say sneakers for instance. You start selling more, the word spreads and a lot of people want them. Great! – But you’ll immediately get a lot on your table. Apart from creating more products, the distribution aspect is enormous. Where will you keep all your stuff? Where will you find people that can take care of packing and delivering your sneakers? The answer is, and will always be, warehousing.
That’s exactly what we did, we picked and packed and delivered products for different companies. Companies in a lot, and I mean A LOT, of different businesses hired us for warehousing services.
How was working in warehousing?
It was fun! That’s my short answer to the question but there is of course more to it. My specific warehousing company was great. I mean, good conditions for us – myself and my team. The salary was good. It was a really good team to be working in too. Great co-workers that I still have a lot of contact with even though some years have passed since we did warehousing together.
Do you have any questions that are still unanswered? About warehousing or something else. Please leave a comment with the question and I’ll make sure to answer it in a post soon.
